Coffee Morning at the National Rehabilitation Hospital:

Charity Up!

One of our customers the National Rehabilitation Hospital had a coffee morning recently which was a huge success. 😊

All money raised was donated to the Valentine Fund:

What is the Valentine’s Fund?

Most patients, Adults & Children, who attend the NRH have had a sudden life altering illness or accident. Many are younger adults who are at an earlier stage in their life cycle in terms of having young children, dependent parents and high mortgages.  A considerable number of  working patients are unable to return to their previous job and are now dependent on Social Protection payments.  Parents of children attending the NRH are generally struggling to keep their financial situation on track while one parent has to stop working to be in the hospital with their sick child.  Given that the NRH is a national service, families often struggle to pay the costs to travel to and from the NRH and to pay for hidden costs of disability such as higher medical and heating bills and extra child care costs.  The economic situation has also meant that more families were struggling financially prior to the injury and that employers are less able to support in terms of paid leave.
The Funds raised so far have provided an opportunity for the social work department in the NRH to be responsive to individual and family needs in exceptional circumstances where no other resources may be accessible to them. As such, funds raised have directly benefited patients and families in very personal and practical ways.
The funds are used exclusively for the benefit of patients and their families within the NRH. The Social Work Department allocates funding on the basis of assessed need and inability to source funding through other statutory and voluntary bodies.
